Two standing women symbolize faith and hope in this beautiful and dramatic pair of tall oil on canvas paintings.Vibrant colors and lovely lighting draw one to gaze at the expressions on each face. The lady in red gown is holding a cross, symbolizing faith while the woman in green holds an anchor, representing hope. They are signed and dated by the Danish artist, P. Wilstrup, 1854. Both canvases will benefit from a light surface cleaning which we leave to the discretion of the buyer. Cracqueleuer is seen throughout and some peeling in both, some retouches. "Hope" has repairs/patches seen on back and a pucture at foot  by anchor. "Faith" has a pinhole.
